President, Japan Blue Energy Co., Ltd. (JBEC)
Mr Naoki Dowaki joined Japan Blue Energy Co., Ltd. (JBEC) in 1991 and was appointed as its President in 2000. He has been striving to spread clean energy derived from biomass through JBEC’s proprietary biomass gasification process. He spent nearly two decades developing the advanced process to convert waste into renewable hydrogen and has completed four pilots which entailed processing biomass, waste plastics and other solid waste. In addition, the fifth pilot plant converting sewage sludge into renewable hydrogen has been in operation in partnership with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, TODA Corporation, TOKYU Construction and other Japanese firms, and is expected to help Japan to address the growing demand for renewable hydrogen, while facilitating sustainable disposal of waste. Mr Dowaki holds an BEc from Meiji University. He has experience as committee member of governmental organizations such as the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for regional revitalization in Japan. He played a contributing part in a Japan External Trade Organization project for the hydrogen industry exchange with Iceland. He is also a board member of Ways2H, Inc., a joint venture between U.S. based Clean Energy Enterprises and JBEC.
